‘My Film Was Shot Before, The Match Was Played After’ Diljit Dosanjh BREAKS silence on Sardaar Ji 3 backlash

Diljit Dosanjh finally opened up about his controversy on Sardaar Ji 3, anti-national allegations, and the India-Pak match. Read further to know what the star actually said.

'My Film Was Shot Before, The Match Was Played After' Diljit Dosanjh BREAKS silence on Sardaar Ji 3 backlash

Diljit Dosanjh is currently on his AURA tour, which kicked off on September 24 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During the concert, he finally opened up about the controversy around his recent Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3. The film faced huge backlash because it featured Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, and the Film Federation of India even called for a boycott of both the movie and Diljit himself. Addressing fans at the show, Diljit explained that the film had been shot in February before the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. He pointed out the irony that his film, which was completed months earlier, faced criticism, while the India-Pakistan cricket match still went ahead after the attack.

Spotting a fan with the Indian flag, he paused and said, “That’s my country’s flag. Always respect.”

He went on to say in Punjabi “When my film was shot, matches were already happening. After that, the Pahalgam attack happened. We prayed then, and still pray, that the terrorists are punished strictly. The only difference is, my film was shot before the attack, but the match was played after it.”

Diljit also revealed how the national media had tried to paint him as “anti-national.” He firmly denied it, adding that Punjabis and Sikhs can never stand against the country.

Diljit Dosanjh Opens Up About Why He Has Been Silent All These Months

For months, he had chosen not to respond to the criticism. Explaining why, he said, “Whoever says something about you, don’t take that poison inside you. That’s what I’ve learned from life. That’s why I stayed quiet. I had many answers, but I didn’t want to speak. There’s a lot more I could say, but I don’t want to do that… I don’t want to do that shit.”
