Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2, Suriya starrer Retro and Nani’s movie Hit 3: The Third Case will release in theatres on May 1. The films will face tough competition and time will tell which movie is on the top list of cinegoers.
Ajay Devgn headliner Raid 2, Suriya starrer Retro and Nanis’ Telugu film Hit 3: The Third Case will hit the big screens on May 1. Well, these three films will face a clash at the domestic box office. The advance booking collection for all three movies has started. The official numbers for all the films are not revealed as of now, but Raid 2 seems to be in the lead as of now. May 1 is celebrated as International Labour Day and it would be interesting to see if the regional releases would beat Bollywood film.
Raid 2, Hit 3 or Retro – Which film will take the lead?
Raid 2 is a sequel to the 2018 film which is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. The film is about Ajay Devgn’s character, IRS officer Amay Patnaik, who is tracking white-collar crime. The film stars Riteish Deshmukh as the antagonist in the movie. Sourabh Shukla will reprise his role. Well, this time Vaani Kapoor has replaced Ileana D’Cruz in the film.

As per reports, Raid 2 has sold 23772455 tickets in India and it has managed to collect Rs 2.38 crore at the domestic box office in advance collections. The film has minted Rs 4.03 crore. Apart from this, Sanjay Dutt starrer Bhoothnii which will also release on May 1 will face competition from Ajay’s Raid 2. Will Bhoothnii affect the business of Raid 2? On the other hand, Vaani Kapoor has been facing boycott calls for her film Abir Gulaal which starred Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. Will this affect Raid 2’s performance at the box office?
Hit 3: The Third case to break record sales overseas?
Nani’s starrer Hit 3’s advance booking has started on an amazing note. Well, the fans of the superstar have alleged that the pre-sales are not available in all parts of India as of now. The film is directed by Sailesh Kolanu and Nani essays the role of a ruthless cop, Arjun Sarkaar. The film also features Srinidhi Shetty of KGF fame in the main role.

As per reports, HIT 3 has grossed over Rs 1 crore in advance sales in India. The movie makers have shared the official figures and claim that the film’s pre-sales collections in North America have grossed $300k.
Retro to open over Rs 10 crore worldwide?
Suriya and Pooja Hegde starrer Retro is a Tamil language romantic action film which is directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film is about the life of gangster who quits his bad life after falling for a girl. As per trade analyst and industry insider Manobala Vijayan the film has already crossed the Rs 10 crore mark in worldwide collection in advance bookings.
