Popular comedian Abhishek Upmanyu has been surrounded in controversy after he responded to a Pakistani social media user. Within no time, he started facing backlash for his actions. The slamming and trolling led Abhishek to deactivate his X (formerly Twitter) account. The entire nation was shocked after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people.

    Abhishek Upmanyu receives backlash

Abhishek has been getting slammed for his comment where he seemed to agree to a social media user from Pakistan who said that Indians “deserve the racism” they face in the West. For the uninitiated, internet personality Abhijit Iyer Mitra reposted an abusive note for women across the border on his Twitter now X page. Responding to it, a social media user from Pakistan with handle @lilmisskhawaja, wrote, “Zero class. Abuses is not equal to humour. The whole world sees your country as this hub of rapists and rightfully so. This is ‘funny’ according to the average Indian. You lot deserve all the racism you’re facing in the west”. Abhishek agreed to the social media user’s opinion and wrote, “Yup” under it.

    A look at Abhishek’s response

Within no time, the social media users took a strong stand and Abhishek’s reply faced a heavy backlash which led him to deactivate his account. One user wrote, “Wtf Abhishek Upmanyu !!! Ashamed to ever think your were good”, another commented saying, ““Twitter didn’t spare Abhishek Upmanyu because he chose to stand with a Pakistani handle that insults Indians”. Another said, “Abhishek upmanyu is funny lol.” “Well Abhishek Upmanyu deserved that”, said another. Some netizens were confused about the controversy surrounding Abhishek and one user said, “What exactly did abhishek upmanyu said or tweeted to get his account suspended”. Another fan said, “Omg what happened to Abhishek upmanyu account?”

After this controversy, comedian Abhishek’s account is not visible on social media and he has not released a statement about the backlash. The @lilmisskhawaja handle is withheld, with the message reading, “The account has been withheld in IN in response to a legal demand”.

Well, Abhishek is a well-known standup comedian and has landed in trouble in the past as well for his statements.
