Ajay Devgn is one of the most popular superstars in Bollywood. While he regaled fans with Shaitan and Singham Again the last year, in 2025, he takes on the role of a mentor and co-star for two young actors. Ajay stars in Azaad with Aaman Devgan (his nephew) and Rasha Thadani (his yesteryear co-star Raveena Tandon’s daughter). The team launched the trailer of their upcoming new movie in Mumbai on Monday.
Speaking at the event, Ajay reflected at what had changed over the years since the time he made his debut in Phool Aur Kaante. Ajay said, “We were very raw. We went on set and learnt everything there. These days, the young generation is better prepared.” And that is very important he notes, “Audience maaf nahi karti hai. So it’s a good thing that these youngsters are prepared. Hamari galtiyoon ko maaf kar deti thi audience but aaj ki audience kisi ko bhi maaf nahi karti.”
Talking about Rasha and Aaman, Ajay felt that they both have worked really hard for Azaad, their debut film, and their director Abhishek Kapoor (fondly called Gattu) has guided them well. “I keep on firing Aaman and pushing him so that he does better than his best because I know the audience is unforgiving. There’s a lot of pressure on the young kids coming into films these days, ” Ajay revealed.
Azaad also marks the big screen debut of TV actor Mohit Malik. It also stars Diana Penty in a key role and presents her in a never seen before avatar. Azaad tells the story of a young boy and his horse and their heartwarming bond. The film was extensively shot in Jaipur.
The film Azaad releases in theatres on January 17, 2025 and is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor.
