A second season Korean sci-fi fantasy series Moving is in the works at Disney+, Disney confirmed on day two of its Asia Pacific Content Showcase in Singapore.

The announcement was made by Carol Choi, Disney’s executive vp of original content strategy for APAC, although no details on dates and cast on Moving season two were provided. Series creator, the influential Korean artist Kang Full, will be involved in the second season.

The series, which launched in August 2023, has been a huge hit for Disney+ and Hulu, with the company saying that Moving ranked as the number one local original title globally on Disney+ last year.

Moving is an adaptation of a popular webtoon created by Kang, whose works have been adapted into several local films. The show, that’s also written by Kang, stars some of the biggest names in Korean film and television, including Ryu Seung-ryong, Han Hyo-joo and Zo In-sung.

The show tells the story of a group of South Korean spies working to protect their super-powered children from harm and exploitation at the hands of malicious government agencies. Initially recruited because of their extraordinary abilities including flight, instant healing and enhanced senses, the spies disappeared without a trace after being tasked with carrying out increasingly dubious missions.

Among a flurry of K-content announcements at the Singapore showcase, Disney also revealed details on four new upcoming Korean series. The Murky Stream will be Disney+’s first Korean historical drama. The show, set during the Joseon period, stars Rowoon and Shin Yeeun. Action drama The Manipulated stars Ji Changwook and Doh Kyungsoo. There’s also political drama Tempest starring Jun Gianna, Gang Dongwon and John Cho; and Made In Korea starring Hyun Bin and Jung Woosung.

The streamer offered first looks at journalism drama Unmasked, medical thriller Hyper Knife and period crime drama Knock-off, serial killer drama Nine Puzzles and the period treasure-seeking drama Low Life.

Leaning into Korean content has been incredibly successful for Disney+, finding strong audiences in South Korea but also huge audiences around the world, driving subscriptions in APAC in particular. Choi said that in 2023, among the top 15 best performing international original titles released on Disney+, nine were Korean titles, based on views. Choi added that in 2024, Korean action drama A Shop For Killers has become the most viewed series on Disney+ in APAC.
