Maroney is the director of Gladstone 64, an art gallery located in New York City’s upscale Upper East Side. Prior to his current role, he worked at the prestigious Gagosian Gallery, further establishing his reputation in the art community. A contact from the art world shared with The Cut, “He’s definitely respected. He’s not a big player, but he’s a player. I’d say he understands what good art is, as opposed to a lot of art dealers who just like to go to parties and do deals.” Despite his preference for a more understated approach, he’s a notable presence at the “art-world parties” that attract “art and fashion scenester types,” according to the outlet.

Maroney Grew up in Vermont
Maroney was born in New York City in 1985, but his family moved to Leicester, Vermont, when he was just two years old. His parents, James Maroney and Suki Fredericks, sought a quieter, rural lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of the city. In 1990, they opened Oliver Hill Farm, where they have cared for hundreds of animals on their 775 acres of land and currently operate a bed and breakfast. According to a 2015 profile from The Medium, Maroney and Fredericks transitioned from large-scale dairy farming to renting their land to neighboring organic farmers.

As a teenager, Maroney moved back to New York City to study art history. He graduated as part of the class of 2007.

Maroney and Lawrence reportedly began dating after JLaw’s best friend, Laura Simpson, introduced them, according to a June 2018 report from Page Six.
“They met through Jen’s friend Laura. The relationship has been going on for a few weeks, but they have been very private and careful not to be seen together,” a source told the outlet.
