Veteran superstar Hema Malini has been happily married to megastar Dharmendra since 1980. The two have managed to achieve major love goals with their love for each other. Dharmendra and Hema Malini have been married for decades and are parents to two children – Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Hema Malini is Dharmendra’s second wife and his first wife was Prakash Kaur. The two had two sons – Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.
Well, did you know there was a time when her mother Jaya Chakravarthy wanted someone else to be her son-in-law. Yes, you read that right! Jaya Chakravarthy was a producer and costume designer for films including Dream Girl, Swami, Dillagi and more. She always wanted to become a dancer but when she did not succeed, she made her daughter a superstar.
Hema Malini worked in more than 150 films and was paired alongside Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, and Dev Anand. She entered the film industry in 1963 with the Tamil film Idhu Sathiyam. She made her Bollywood debut with Sapno Ka Saudagar.

Hema Malini first worked with Dharmendra in Tum Haseen Main Jawaan. Hema Malini’s parents were against her marriage her to Dharmendra as he was already married. Her mother thought of Jeetendra and Sanjeev Kumar as a better match than Dharmendra. But, she wanted THIS person to be her son-in-law.
As per Mayapuri’s 250th issue, Hema Malini’s mother wanted Girish Karnad to be her son-in-law. He was an established Indian actor, film director and much more. Hema Malini’s mother appreciated Girish Karnad’s work. Her mother pushed them to work together in the 1979 film Ratnadeep. Eventually, Hema Malini and Dharmendra got married. Now, Hema Malini focuses on politics and has been representing the Mathura constituency since 2014. She is serving as a member of the Lok Sabha from the BJP.
